Orval Day celebrates a global avor touchstone: Orval Trappist Ale.
A trout returned a lost golden ring to Princess Matilda in 1070 AD, and she gratefully gave
Belgium’s “Golden Valley” to the church. Orval’s long history began with a woman, and today
Orval is the only Trappist brewery with a woman in charge of all brewing operations.
Brewer Anne-Françoise and her team make a bold, spicy, deeply appealing ale with an
extravagant head, compelling bouquet and sharp hint of sourness in the nish. Orval is a favorite
of pro brewers worldwide.
For every US bottle of Orval sold on Saturday, March 23, 2024, Merchant du Vin will donate 50 cents to the National Forest Foundation.
